Comment
This is a Battery Energy Storage System for Spittal next to the A9. BESS are very problematic because the safety aspects are not assessed before planning consent is granted. Safety aspects are relevant to site selection and design and should be considered BEFORE an application is granted. An incident on this site would not only mean obnoxious smoke affecting Spittal and the wider area but also that the A9 has to be closed, potentially for days until the fire has burnt out. The footprint of this application is surprisingly small in comparison to other BESS of a similar size.
